Why Facebook 1200x630.jpg

Are you advertising on Facebook? You should be.

If you’re a business owner, one of the best ways you can increase exposure for your brand or business is with social media—especially Facebook. With over 2 billion active users, Facebook is the king of all social media networks. It’s everyone’s go-to to find out what’s going on around the world and it’s one of the first places people go to gather information about a company or brand.

To better understand why your company should advertise on Facebook our digital strategist, Max, put together these four reasons why Facebook could benefit your business:

People spend a TON of time on Facebook

With the large number of active users, Facebook is the perfect source for businesses to advertise. According to Adweek, the average person will spend more than five years of their lives on social media with most of those people spending an average of 35-40 minutes per day on Facebook alone.

Yet, only 3 million companies advertise on Facebook and more than 70% of those companies are outside of the US! Needless to say, this is a huge opportunity for any business looking for more customers and clients.

Enhanced Targeting

Facebook’s targeting is much more complex than you may think.

Compared to other online advertising channels, Facebook ads allow businesses to target users by location, demographics (age, gender, education level, etc.) different interests, behaviors, and connections that they have listed on their personal profiles. Each one of these options can be layered too, ensuring that businesses can target whoever they want, wherever they want.

Custom and Lookalike Audiences

With the different targeting options Facebook provides, businesses can also use Facebook to locate new segments of your target audience with custom and lookalike audiences.

A custom audience is a list of people made up of a business’ current and existing customers. This list is created from customer data pulled from a business’ current Facebook page, email marketing campaigns, phone numbers and more.

After a custom audience is created, a business can then create a lookalike audience. When a lookalike audience is created, Facebook identifies the different qualities and traits of each person within the custom audience list and then creates a new list of people who are similar to, or look like, your current target market. This list can then be added to your current marketing campaigns and advertisements.

Remarketing Capabilities

Remarketing is a clever type of technology that allows a business to reconnect with users who visited their website, but did not complete a certain action (ex. not completing a purchase or form). With Facebook remarketing, businesses are able to position targeted ads at these past visitors while they’re browsing Facebook. These ads will appear across Facebook newsfeeds, right columns, and within a user’s specific audience network.

Remarketing campaigns are extremely valuable because you get another chance to try and sell your products or service to a past visitor.

As you can see, there are a lot of different ways businesses can use Facebook to advertise online.
