When I first joined de Novo, it was a busy time. There were so many different campaigns and events happening that I felt like I was in that finals crunch all over again.  But even though it was action packed from my very first day, they made me feel welcomed and included me in all parts of agency life.

I have learned a lot of valuable skills here at de Novo, like how to keep up in an agency environment, and also to have fun. Some things I will definitely miss:

  • All the fooooood (cookies, donuts, candy, fudge, cupcakes—you name it) + Potlucks (an excuse to bring more food)
  • Doggos (every day is "bring your dog to work day" at de Novo)
  • Writing copy for Facebook
  • Traveling to shoots

Interning here has been a whirlwind of activities, from going on video shoots to attending meetings under crazy weather (I’m looking at you Iowa rain that leaked through the ceiling from five floors up!) to writing Facebook posts and case studies.

Some of my favorite tasks have been discovering and learning about my area of interest—social media. I’ve written social media copy for the Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau and Hanna Plumbing & Heating Facebook pages, complete with puns. These tasks were fun and stretched my creativity because I was writing copy for topics I had little knowledge about, which required me to do some research and think in new ways when it comes to writing.

I can’t thank the team enough for offering me an internship after completing my first year of college. When I began college, I wasn’t exactly sure where I wanted to be and what career path I wanted to take. Interning at de Novo has shown me one possibility for my future, and I’m excited to enter the marketing world in a few years after graduation. Having the opportunity to work with such a great group of people in my hometown and work on projects for companies I know well has been a great experience.

Thanks to de Novo for being so awesome!
