As I finish up my internship at de Novo, I am now entering a period where I will be interviewing to take the next step in my career. I know I am bound to get a question somewhere along the lines of, “So what was your last work experience like?” A few quick images run through my head…

  • Seeing my sweet, innocent boss get down to Ludacris’ hit single “Move B**ch
  • The amount of time searching for the perfect Gif to one-up everyone else in the office
  • Witnessing a beer shotgun race in Coble Hill at 11am (arguably Cedar Rapids’ nicest restaurant)
  • All the playful harassment the entire office directed towards Ryan because he is so damn annoying! (Just kidding, Ryan. Kind of...)

And then comes the question, “What did you learn while interning at de Novo?” I will quickly need to remind myself to explain all the technical skills and valuable knowledge I have gained, and not to enter the bank of strange facts and odd urban-dictionary vocabulary words I have picked up on during my time here.

But in all seriousness, I wouldn’t trade this internship experience for anything. It was the perfect way to spend my afternoons as I wrapped up my senior year. Combining this experience with the education I have received at Mount Mercy University, I feel as if I am ready to take on “the real world,” and no, that doesn’t mean I'm signing up for the TV show.

To the de Novo family, I would like to thank each and every one of you for welcoming me into the team with open arms. These past few months have seriously been a blast. It was awesome to not only learn from all of you, but to also get to know you personally. So, keep in touch, stay weird and as always, think de Novo!
